2006 Girls & Boys NGAC Champions

Track teams sweep NGAC championships

The GLMS girls' and boys' track teams each finished first in the North Georgia Athletic Conference championship meet held May 8–9 at LaFayette. It was the first-ever league championship for the Trojans and the first since 1991 for the Lady Trojans.

The girls built a big lead during field events, but found themselves tied with Heritage entering the final event. The Lady Trojans' 4x400m relay team responded by running a school-record time in winning the race and bringing the championship trophy home to GLMS.

The boys trailed Heritage by one-third point before the final relay, but beat the Generals by a whopping 23 seconds in the 4x400m to claim the NGAC's top prize.
