Lady Trojan tracksters win NGAC

The GLMS girls' track team won the 2009 North Georgia Athletic Conference Championships held May 7 at Lakeview. The Lady Trojans' 85 points put them just ahead of Heritage and Ringgold, who scored 81 and 80, respectively.

It was the second straight league title for Gordon Lee, and their third in four years.

May 7 The Lady Trojans won their second straight NGAC Track Championship, taking first place in three events. Scoring for GLMS were:

Apr 24 The Lady Trojans won a four-team meet at Ringgold. Individual winners were Katelyn Lee in the shot put and discus, Anna Pettigrew in the pole vault, Kassidy Blevins in the 100m hurdles, Abbey Bohannon in the 800m, and Kalei Kimbrell, who set a new GLMS record in the high jump by clearing 5-0. The 4x400m relay team of Michaela Catlett, Ryan Schwinne, Tiffany Holland, and Kimbrell also won its event. The Trojans placed third in the meet, getting wins from Nick Cooley in the pole vault and Jamison Mullinax in the 1600m.

Mar 30 The girls' team placed third in a meet at Lakeview, winning five events. Katelyn Lee was first in the discus and shot put, Kalei Kimbrell was tops in the high jump, Taylor Bouchillon won the 100m hurdles, and the 4x400m relay team of Michaela Catlett, Tiffany Holland, Taylor Hartline, and Katherine Chambers also finished first. The boys' team was fourth in the meet, getting first-place points from Corey Jewell in the discus and shot put.

Mar 24 The Lady Trojans took first place in their season-opening meet. Individual winners for GLMS were Katelyn Lee in the shot put and discus, Kalei Kimbrell in the high jump and long jump, and Taylor Hartline in the 400m. The 4x400m relay team was also a winner. The Trojans got wins from Corey Jewell in the shot put and Colin Wright in the pole vault.
