You are eligible to participate in the Duke Talent Identification Program and receive benefits such as feedback about your abilities, information about colleges and summer programs, and an opportunity to practice the ACT or SAT. The first deadline is October 1. See Ms. Lewis or visit the Duke TIP website if you need more information.

Gifted Class Description

Welcome to Gifted Enrichment! This course will prepare students for success by helping them to become more confident, capable, and independent learners through challenging and engaging academic activities. Instructional techniques include full class and small group discussion, lecture, in and out of class activities, and individual conferencing. Students will focus much of their energy on learning to develop, organize, and clarify their ideas.

Expectations

It is expected that all students will:

  1. develop higher-order critical and creative thinking skills by thoroughly preparing assignments in a timely manner and by actively participating in classroom activities
  2. synthesize readings, class discussions, information from other sources, and personal reflections in order to extend and challenge their own learning.
