2007 Girls Region 6-A Champions

2007 season updates

May 10 At the state meet in Jefferson, Rob Crowder placed third in the high jump, Manny Hinkle placed third in the pole vault, and Derek Roberts finished fifth in the pole vault.

May 5 At the Girls' State Meet, Mallory Crowder finished fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 9-0, and Brittny Morgan was fourth in the 800m with a GLHS-record time of 2:27.6.

May 1 The Gordon Lee boys finished second in the Region 6-A meet. Six Trojans qualified for the state meet in six events. Winning region championships were Manny Hinkle in the pole vault and Tyler Oyer in the 3200m. Rob Crowder finished second in the high jump, triple jump, and 300m hurdles. Derek Roberts was second in the pole vault, Josh Guthrie placed second in the long jump, and Zach Fuller was second in the 3200m.

Apr 24 The Lady Trojans won the Region 6-A meet by 73 points over second-place Bremen, and qualified 14 athletes for the state meet in Albany. Individual qualifiers are:

GLHS also qualified two teams in the 4x100m relay (Kelly Mariakis, Wiles, Morgan, Early and Russell, Quinn, Haley Wallin, Crowder) and one team in the 4x400m relay (Rachel Thomas, Kristi Thomas, Russell, Wallin).

Apr 19 The Lady Trojans got first or second place finishes from Mallory Crowder, Amber Vick, Kelly Mariakis, Alex Russell, Jordan Bohannon, Brittny Morgan, and Haley Smith in a meet against Ringgold. Manny Hinkle, Derek Roberts, Tyler Lankford, Josh Guthrie, Rob Crowder, Joseph Kennedy, Jonathan Harding, Tyler Oyer, Zach Fuller, Ryan Culbreth, and Russell Wright finished first or second for the Trojans.

Apr 17 Five boys and five girls were first or second in their event in a meet at LFO. Rob Crowder, Blake Royal, Manny Hinkle, Joseph Kennedy, and Tyler Oyer were the top finishers for the Trojans, while Brittny Morgan, Mallory Crowder, Jordan Bohannon, Molly Rodgers, and Amber Early were tops for the Lady Trojans.

Apr 12 Six girls and three boys placed first or second in their event in a meet against Dalton. Brittny Morgan, Alex Russell, Amber Vick, Haley Smith, Amber Early, and Molly Rodgers were the top finishers for the Lady Trojans, while Rob Crowder, Derek Roberts, and Tyler Oyer took the honors for the Trojans.

Apr 10 Both teams defeated Dade County and LaFayette in a tri-meet. The Lady Trojans got first-place finishes from Brittny Morgan, Mallory Crowder, Amber Vick, Jordan Bohannon, Molly Rodgers, Amber Early, Kelly Mariakis, and Lindsay Wiles. Winners for the Trojans were Rob Crowder, Manny Hinkle, Tyler Oyer, Jordan Afman, Ryan Culbreth, Matt Thornburg, Casey Vann, and Blake Royal.

Mar 30 The Lady Trojans finished third in the Gordon Lee Invitational. Mallory Crowder won the pole vault and was named girls' Best in Field after clearing 9-0 to set a new Invitational record. Brittny Morgan was first in the 800m and second in the 400m. Jordan Bohannon was second in the shot put and Amber Early finished second in the 100m. The Trojans had just one event winner in Rob Crowder, who won the high jump. Derek Roberts placed second in the pole vault.

Mar 27 The Trojans picked up six first place finishes in a tri-meet. Joseph Kennedy won twice, taking the shot put and the discus. Other winners were Rob Crowder in the high jump, Derek Roberts in the pole vault, Manny Hinkle in the 110m high hurdles, and Tyler Oyer in the 3200m run. The Lady Trojans got wins from Mallory Crowder in the pole vault, Alex Russell in the triple jump, Amber Vick in the shot put, and Brittny Morgan in the 800m run.

Mar 23 Six girls and four boys finished first or second in their event at the Adairsville Invitational. Mallory Crowder, Brittny Morgan, Allyson Quinn, Molly Rodgers, Lindsay Wiles, and Haley Smith took the honors for the girls, while Derek Roberts, Joseph Kennedy, Rob Crowder, and Tyler Oyer were tops for the boys.

Mar 20 The girls' team beat LFO 98-38 in a dual meet. Amber Early was the only double winner, capturing both the 100m and the 200m. Other event winners were Brittny Morgan, Alex Russell, Jordan Bohannon, Allyson Quinn, Lindsay Wiles, and Amber Vick. The Lady Trojans also won both relay events. The boys lost a close meet to the Warriors. Rob Crowder, Manny Hinkle, and Joseph Kennedy each won two events for the Trojans, while Casey Vann took one first.

Mar 13 The Trojans and Lady Trojans picked up wins over Dade County. Mallory Crowder set a new school record in the pole vault with a jump of 9-0.

Mar 6 Five boys and three girls finished first or second in their events at the season-opening tri-meet at Southeast Whitfield. Joseph Kennedy took first in both the shot put and discus, while Rob Crowder and Manny Hinkle each picked up one first place finish and one second. Josh Guthrie and Tyler Oyer each posted a second place finish for the Trojans. Amber Vick, Molly Rodgers, and Amber Early were second-place finishers for the Lady Trojans, as was the 4x100m relay team.
