Winners of Four Consecutive Region 6-A Championships

Softball team wins Region championship

The GLHS softball team won its fourth straight Region 6-A championship with a 7-0 win over Trion on October 12. The Lady Trojans had advanced to the finals by beating Bremen 5-0 in the tournament's first round then knocking of Trion 3-0 in the winner's bracket finals.

The Lady Trojans advanced to the North Georgia Sectionals as the #1 team from Region 6. They defeated Monticello, the #4 team from Region 7, Providence Christian, the #2 team from Region 5, and Georgia Military, the #1 team from Region 7, to advance to the State Finals tournament in Columbus.

Gordon Lee won its first three games in Columbus but dropped the final two contests to finish second in the state.

2006 season updates

Oct 31 An error with two outs in the bottom of the ninth allowed Eagle's Landing Christian Academy to score twice and defeat Gordon Lee 2-1, despite a two-hit, 19-strikeout performance by Kaity Holloway. The Lady Trojans could not bounce back, losing the deciding game for the state championship to ELCA 2-0.

Oct 28 The Lady Trojans defeated Eagle's Landing Christian Academy 5-0 in the winner's bracket finals of the state tournament. Kaity Holloway struck out 15 in pitching the shutout. Gordon Lee scored all five runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-out, two-run home run by Jordan Bohannon. Mallary Lee also drove in a pair of two-out runs. Holloway and Shauna Gallahar were each 2-for-3 for GLHS. Abbie Kennedy had the other RBI.

Oct 26 Gordon Lee won twice in the state tournament. The Lady Trojans opened with a eight-inning, 1-0 win over Savannah Country Day. Maddie McKinley drove in the game's only run with a sacrifice fly. Kaity Holloway went the distance, allowing three hits and striking out 13. GLHS then advanced to the winner's bracket finals with an 11-1 win over Georgia Military. Abbie Kennedy was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Shauna Gallahar was 3-for-4. Rachel Beason and Holloway were both 2-for-4.

Oct 21 The Lady Trojans advanced to the Elite Eight for the fifth consecutive year with a five-inning 10-0 win over Georgia Military. Kaity Holloway pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and blasted a solo home run during Gordon Lee's four-run fifth inning. Rachel Beason hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Britney Hollis was 3-for-3 for the game.

Oct 20 Gordon Lee won a pair of games in the North Sectional tournament. The Lady Trojans opened with a 14-0 win over Monticello as Kaity Holloway and Callie Gee combined to pitch a five-inning perfect game. They then beat Providence Christian 3-1. Maddie McKinley had a two-run home run for GLHS.

Oct 12 The Lady Trojans beat Trion 7-0 to capture their fourth consecutive Region 6-A championship. Kaity Holloway was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, while Maddie McKinley and Rachel Beason had two hits each. Holloway was the winning pitcher, allowing just two hits and striking out 15.

Oct 10 Maddie McKinley blasted a two-run home run as part of a three-run first inning, and Kaity Holloway allowed only two hits while striking out 14 in the Lady Trojans' 3-0 win over Trion in the winner's bracket finals of the Region 6-A tournament. Holloway and Molly Rodgers had two hits for GLHS.

Oct 9 Gordon Lee defeated Bremen 5-0 to advance to the winner's bracket finals of the Region 6-A tournament. Jordan Bohannon had a two-run homer for the Lady Trojans, and Rachel Beason added an RBI single. Kaity Holloway pitched a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts.

Mallary Lee

Oct 5 The Lady Trojans celebrated Senior Night with a six-inning 10-0 win over Bowdon. Senior Kaity Holloway allowed only one hit while striking out 14, and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Fellow senior Rachel Beason was 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Senior Mallary Lee had a double and drove in three runs. GLHS finished the season with a 9-1 record in Region 6-A games.

Oct 3 Gordon Lee clinched the top seed in the Region 6-A tournament with a 7-0 win over Mt. Zion. Maddie McKinley was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Kaity Holloway was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Holloway and Callie Gee combined for a three-hit shutout.

Oct 2 The Lady Trojans scored 10 runs in the first inning on the way to a four-inning, 15-0 win over Excel Christian. Eight different players had RBIs in the big inning. Abbie Kennedy had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and Britney Hollis had two hits and an RBI. Maddie McKinley blasted a two-run homer for GLHS. Kaity Holloway and Callie Gee combined to pitch a one-hitter.

Sep 30 Gordon Lee was 2-1 in the Silver Division of the Brookwood Invitational. The Lady Trojans defeated Dawson County 2-0 before falling to Grayson 3-2. GLHS bounced back to shut out Greater Atlanta Christian, ranked eighth in Class AA, by a 5-0 score.

Sep 29 The Lady Trojans went 2-1 in pool play at the Brookwood Invitational. GLHS began with a 2-1 win over Parkview, then posted a 3-0 win over Collins Hill, ranked second in Class AAAAA. Gordon Lee ended the day with a 5-0 loss to Eastside, Class AAAA's fourth-ranked team.

Sep 28 Gordon Lee defeated Excel Christian 9-0. Abbie Kennedy had two hits and two RBIs, while Molly Rodgers and Britney Hollis also had two hits each. Kaity Holloway blasted a two-run home run and was the winning pitcher, allowing no hits while striking out 13.

Sep 26 The Lady Trojans shut out Bremen 4-0 as Kaity Holloway pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts. A two-RBI triple by Shauna Gallahar and RBI singles by Abbie Kennedy and Jordan Bohannon were the big blows in Gordon Lee's four-run third inning.

Sep 23 Gordon Lee went 2-2 in the Gold Division of the Lassiter Invitational. The Lady Trojans defeated Kennesaw Mountain 2-1 and Lassiter 3-2 before falling 3-0 to Sequoyah and 1-0 to East Paulding.

Sep 22 The Lady Trojans won both their games in pool play in the Lassiter Invitational. GLHS opened with an 11-0 win over Woodland and then beat Chattahoochee 7-2.

Sep 21 Gordon Lee beat Trion 9-0 as Kaity Holloway, Jonia Taylor, and Callie Gee combined to throw a three-hit shutout. Maddie McKinley was 3-for-3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored to lead the Lady Trojans' offense. Mallary Lee, Jordan Bohannon, and Molly Rodgers each had two hits in the game.

Sep 19 Kaity Holloway pitched her second consecutive no-hitter and tied a season high with 18 strikeouts as the Lady Trojans knocked off Bremen 7-0. Maddie McKinley was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and Shauna Gallahar had 3 RBIs to lead the offense. Rachel Beason added a solo home run to the GLHS attack.

Sep 14 Kaity Holloway pitched a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Gordon Lee defeated Mt. Zion 5-0. At the plate Holloway was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Maddie McKinley also collected 3 hits, and Britney Hollis had 2 hits, including a double.

Sep 9 The Lady Trojans fell to Bowdon 2-1 in eight innings.

Sep 5 Gordon Lee began its region schedule with a 13-0 win over Trion. Kaity Holloway was 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs, and Maddie McKinley, Abbie Kennedy, and Rachel Beason each had two hits and an RBI in the Lady Trojans' 14-hit attack. Holloway allowed only two hits and struck out 13 in the five-inning game.

Sep 2 The Lady Trojans defeated Luella 2-0 as Kaity Holloway fired a three-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts. Maddie McKinley was 3-for-3 and Abbie Kennedy and Mallary Lee both had two hits for Gordon Lee.

Aug 26 Gordon Lee avenged an opening-day loss by beating Dade County 3-2 in the LFO tournament, but dropped its next two games. The Lady Trojans could not hold a 4-0 lead in a 7-5 loss to Northwest Whitfield, then suffered a 2-1, eight-inning loss to Bremen.

Aug 25 The Lady Trojans split two games in pool play at the LFO tournament. Gordon Lee opened with a 2-1 win over Ringgold, the top-ranked team in Class AAAA, before falling 8-0 against North Forsyth, Class AAAAA's ninth-ranked team.

Maddie McKinley

Aug 22 Gordon Lee opened its season with a 2-0 loss to Dade County, the ninth-ranked team in Class AA. Both teams collected three hits in the game, but the Lady Trojans left seven runners on base.
