2004-2005 season updates
February 25 — Gordon Lee lost to Hancock Central 72-49 in the second round of the state tournament. John Guthrie led the Trojans with 21 points while Jake Penland added 16. Gordon Lee ends the season with a record of 18-11.
February 19 — The Trojans moved to the second round of the state tournament with a 63-48 win over Towns County. John Guthrie and Jake Penland each scored 20 points for Gordon Lee.
February 12 — Gordon Lee lost to Trion 66-55 in the finals of the Region 6A tournament. Jake Penland scored 23 points and John Guthrie added 11 for the Trojans.
February 11 — The Trojans knocked off top-seeded Bowdon 64-60 to advance to the finals of the Region 6A tournament. John Guthrie led Gordon Lee with 23 points and Jake Penland scored 17.
February 8 — Gordon Lee advanced to the semifinals of the Region 6A tournament with a 61-46 win over Temple. Jake Penland led the Trojans with 15 points. John Guthrie added 11. The win secured GLHS a spot in the state tournament for the first time since 1988.
February 5 — The Trojans dropped their final regular season game, losing to Ringgold 62-60. John Guthrie scored 25 points and Jake Penland added 18 for Gordon Lee.
February 3 — Gordon Lee lost to Temple 62-52. Jake Penland scored 16 points for the Trojans.
January 31 — The Trojans defeated Boyd Buchanan 59-53. John Guthrie led the scoring with 21 points. Nathan Dennis and Jake Penland each scored 12 for Gordon Lee.
January 25 — Gordon Lee beat Excel Christian 84-43. Casey Hall led the Trojans with 16 points. Jonathan Eller added 14.
January 22 — The Trojans lost to Bremen 52-44. Nathan Dennis had 14 points to lead Gordon Lee.
January 21 — Gordon Lee lost to Bowdon 66-59. Jake Penland and Jonathan Eller had 15 points each for the Trojans.
January 18 — The Trojans fell to Trion 71-62. Nathan Dennis led Gordon Lee with 15 points. Jonathan Eller had 14 and Jake Penland added 11.
January 15 — Gordon Lee moved to 5-0 in region play with a 48-47 win over Temple.
January 14 — The Trojans knocked off Bremen 65-56.
January 8 — Gordon Lee beat LaFayette 49-36. Nathan Dennis led Gordon Lee with 16 points. The JV team defeated the Ramblers 36-33.
January 7 — The Trojans defeated region foe Bowdon 63-43. Jonathan Eller scored 18 points and Nathan Dennis had 16 to lead Gordon Lee.
January 4 — Gordon Lee moved to 2-0 in region play with a 72-32 victory over Excel Christian.
December 30 — The Trojans ended play in the Oneonta Christmas Invitational with a 100-59 pounding of Marion County, Ala. Jake Penland had 28 points to go with seven assists and four steals. Nathan Dennis scored 18, Jonathan Eller 16, and Bradley Floyd 10 for Gordon Lee.
December 29 — Gordon Lee fell to Simonton Christian 65-60 in the Oneonta tournament. Nathan Dennis scored 16 points and John Guthrie had 15 to lead the Trojans. Rob Crowder had 11 rebounds while Jake Penland dished out 12 assists.
December 28 — The Trojans defeated Madison County 55-38 in the Oneonta tournament. Nathan Dennis led the scoring with 16 points while collecting 10 rebounds and blocking four shots. Jake Penland scored 13 points, including 10-for-10 at the foul line. Penland tallied his 1,000th career point during the game.
December 27 — Gordon Lee opened play in the Oneonta Christmas Invitational by losing to Ashville 61-59. Jake Penland led the offense with 19 points and seven assists. Nathan Dennis added 11 points. Rob Crowder scored 10 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had three steals.
December 18 — The Trojans fell to Ringgold 81-50. John Guthrie was Gordon Lee's top scorer with 17 points. Jake Penland added 10 points to the attack.
December 17 — Gordon Lee defeated Ridgeland 61-58. Bradley Floyd led the Trojans with 14 points. Jonathan Eller and Nathan Dennis added 10 each.
December 14 — Gordon Lee picked up a win in its first region game of the season, topping Trion 61-41. Nathan Dennis scored 19 points and Jonathan Eller added 13 for the Trojans.
December 11 — The Trojans beat North Sand Mountain 89-81. Nathan Dennis had 31 points and 15 rebounds to lead the way for Gordon Lee. John Guthrie scored 18 points and Bradley Floyd 13, including 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the last two minutes. The JV Trojans picked up their first victory of the season with a win over the Bison.
December 10 — Gordon Lee suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Boyd Buchanan 59-56. Nathan Dennis scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jake Penland added 16 points and 6 assists, and John Guthrie scored 10 for the Trojans. The JV team also lost to the Bucs.
December 7 — The Trojans had four players score in double figures as they defeated Ridgeland 63-50. John Guthrie led the way with 18 points. Nathan Dennis had 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Jonathan Eller scored 12 and Jake Penland 11 for Gordon Lee. The JV team lost to Ridgeland.
November 30 — Gordon Lee hammered Marion County 83-53. The Trojans trailed 25-24 in the second quarter, but a four-point play by John Guthrie ignited an 18-0 run to end the half. Guthrie and Nathan Dennis each scored 21 points for the Trojans. Dennis added 13 rebounds. Jonathan Eller chipped in 13 points and 6 steals. Jake Penland had 10 assists. The JV team lost to the Warriors.
November 23 — The Trojans opened their season with a 70-67 win over Marion County. Jake Penland scored 22 points and Nathan Dennis added 21 for Gordon Lee.
