Marching Trojans win Grand Championship at Peach State
The Gordon Lee Marching Trojan Band was named the 2008 Grand Champion of the Peach State Marching Band Competition, held October 25 in Rome.
The band earned Superior Ratings in all captions. The GLHS Drum Majors, majorette, dance line, percussion, and band all placed first in Class AAA.
The Marching Trojans received the Don Everett Award for Musical Excellence for earning the highest music score of the day and the Thomas Eugene Inglis Grand Champion Award for posting the overall highest score of the day.
This is the fifth time Gordon Lee's band has won the Peach State Grand Championship.
GLHS sweeps at Golden River
The Gordon Lee band competed in the 2008 Golden River Marching Festival at Haralson County High School on October 18 and took best in class honors in all captions. The Drum Majors, majorettes, dance line, color guard, drum line, and band all received Superior ratings from the judges, and out-scored all other groups in their class.
Additionally, the dance line had the highest score of the day and majorette Sarah Cash tied for the highest score in her area.
Band first in class at Hixson
The GLHS Marching Trojan Band competed in the 2008 Choo Choo Classic at Hixson High School on September 27 and was rated best in class for Class AAA.
The band and percussion received Superior ratings while the Drum Majors and auxiliary units received Excellent ratings.
The Chase is on

The Gordon Lee Band, under the leadership of new director Burt Haynes, is performing selections made popular by the jazz/rock band Chase during their 2008 halftime show. Soloists are Hunter Helton, Chris Daniels, Hollis Houston, and Devin Shields. The show includes:
- Open Up Wide
- Handbags and Gladrags
- Get It On
The band will be attending three contests this fall.
- September 27 - Choo Choo Classic, Hixson, Tenn.
- October 18 - Golden River, Haralson County
- October 25 - Peach State, Rome
The Marching Trojans will also perform at halftime of each GLHS football game.
